MacBook Pro (2019) is very surprising. Than?

A few days ago, Apple updated the basic version of the MacBook Pro. The novelty has received a new quad-core Intel processor of the eighth generation, a Touch Bar touch panel, as well as a third-generation Butterfly keyboard. Surely, many consider this laptop to buy – given its relatively low cost ($ 1299). How does the updated laptop show itself in long loads? The answer to this question is the journalists of the publication Ai.

The performance of the updated MacBook Pro

The publication decided to test the MacBook Pro 13 (2019) on the subject of throttling. The fact is that the laptop received a fairly powerful Intel Core i5-8257U processor with a frequency of 1.4 GHz (Turbo Boost up to 3.9 GHz). At the same time in the case of the laptop only one fan. At the same time, TDP fits into 15 W, while in older models this value is 28 W.

Can a single fan cope with its tasks and will there be a drop in performance under intensive loads?

To get an answer to this question, the journalists decided to use the benchmark Cinebench R20. This performance test makes heavy calculations and provides a 100% CPU load. Ultimately, the benchmark “drove” ten times.

The results were quite interesting. It turned out that immediately after the launch of the Cinemabench R20, the processor starts to work at the maximum clock frequency of 3.9 GHz. At the same time, the chip temperature is growing rapidly, but it does not reach the level of 100 degrees. After some time, the processor frequency dropped to 2.6-2.7 GHz, remaining the same throughout the remaining time

n the test, the basic version of the MacBook Pro (2019) scored an average of 1583 points (after 10 runs).

Journalists Ai note that the final result exceeded their expectations. Despite the fact that the base frequency of the processor is 1.4 GHz, in real tests the processor always worked at much higher frequencies. Trolling, of course, is, but it is minimal. Considering the high performance of the chip, the thin body and the presence of only one fan, you can safely close your eyes to this drawback.
