Apple releases iOS 15.3.1 and macOS 12.2.1 with bug fixes

0

Today, February 10, Apple unexpectedly released an unscheduled iOS 15.3 .1 update . Its unscheduled nature is indicated by the release day – Thursday, while scheduled updates are released either on Monday or Tuesday. For the same reason, by the way, the new version of the OS does not contain a single innovation, but is focused solely on fixing bugs and flaws in the previous build. Let’s figure out what changes Apple has made to iOS with the release of this update and whether it is worth installing it on your iPhone .

The release of iOS 15.3.1 could be expected, given that Apple also released iOS 15.3 urgently, not having time to implement all the planned innovations. Therefore, the original update came out with errors, and they needed to be fixed urgently so as not to endanger users. And so it happened. Meet iOS 15.3.1.

What’s new in iOS 15.3.1

The key fix for which Apple released iOS 15.3.1 lies in the area of user protection. It turns out that in the release version of iOS 15.3, a critical vulnerability was discovered in the OS web component, which allowed arbitrary code to be executed on devices based on this assembly.

However, there was another change. It concerns the Braille typing mechanism. In iOS 15.3, a keyboard designed for typing by the blind and visually impaired may not appear on the screen even after a call. Apple developers made some adjustments to the mechanism, and it worked as it should.

Is it worth installing macOS 12.2.1

Along with iOS 15.3.1, Apple released macOS 12.2.1. The desktop OS update contains a more significant change. It boils down to fixing a bug in the Bluetooth module that activated connected accessories in a sleep state and thereby provoked a premature discharge of the MacBook.

We already wrote about this problem some time ago. Be sure to read it if you’re interested. And, if you yourself personally encountered this bug, be sure to install the update – it really should fix everything. However, installing macOS 12.2.1 is recommended for owners of not only laptops but also desktop Macs – just in case.
