The earbuds that everyone has been talking about for the past two years are finally presented. Remember we predicted about apple New Airpod earlier this year Apple has officially announced the release of its first over-ear over-ear headphones – not AirPods Studio, but AirPods Max. The headphones are equipped with the H1 chip for work in the Apple ecosystem, the system of active noise cancellation and are capable of working up to 20 hours on a single charge (yes, almost like the new MacBook Pro with M1). AirPods Max is made in Apple’s corporate design, but they also cost the same – $549 in the company’s US online store. What is that kind of money for?
What is AirPods Max
AirPods Max is available in five colors: space gray, silver, sky blue, green, and pink. According to Apple, the headphones feature a “custom acoustic design” with 40mm drivers that “deliver rich, deep bass, precise mids, and treble extension so every note can be heard.” Equipped with an adaptive equalizer, the earbuds have all the features that AirPods Pro already has: transparency mode, spatial audio, and hands-free Siri voice commands.
Once again, Apple has taken advantage of the built-in ecosystem between its hardware, so AirPods Max supports features such as automatic switching between devices and spatial audio. The headphones can switch between iPhone, Mac, and iPad depending on which device you are currently using.
Features of AirPods Max
Specifically, Apple’s full-size headphones feature memory foam ear cushions. AirPods Max is capable of up to 20 hours of listening time and is charged via Apple’s Lightning connector instead of USB-C. Apple continues to promote its branded interface.
The noise cancellation system dampens external sound using six outward-facing microphones. Two inward-facing microphones measure the sound you hear for the adaptive EQ function. Apple also claims the AirPods Max handles voice calls well (even in windy conditions) thanks to its built-in anti-interference microphones.
The headband frame is made of stainless steel and is covered with a fabric mesh to provide strength, flexibility, and comfort for a wide variety of head shapes and sizes. Telescopic headband arms slide out smoothly and stay in place for the desired fit. Each earcup is attached to the headband using a special mechanism that balances and distributes the pressure of the earcup to the ear and allows it to independently pivot and rotate to match the contours of the user’s head.
Playback is controlled using the Digital Crown similar to the Apple Watch. With it, you can adjust the volume and play or pause music, skip tracks, answer or end phone calls, and activate Siri.
After entering the premium headphone market, Apple will compete directly with brands such as Bose, Sony, Sennheiser, AKG, Bowers & Wilkins, and others with years of headphone development experience and broad product lines. But don’t forget that Apple has AirPods and AirPods Pro that have dominated the TWS wireless earbud market for several years.
How much does AirPods Max cost?
The price of AirPods Max in the US is $549. When ordering, you can choose one of several colors and get an extended AppleCare + warranty plan for $59. You can buy AirPods Max now in the official Apple online store; however, it will take 3-4 weeks to wait. If you’re very lucky, get it on New Year’s Eve.
