Despite the fact that officially upgrade to Android 9.0 Pie can only smartphones Google Pixeland Essential Phone, owners of all other devices available bypass. To do this, just install the updated Pixel Launcher assembly.
Important: The described method, while not suggesting the installation of the final version of Android Pie, still allows you to some extent to evaluate the updated OS from Google.
How to install Android Pie
Before uploading a file, you must allow installation of applications from unknown sources. To do this, go to “Settings” – “Security” – “Unknown sources” and activate this function.
Now download the APX-file Pixel Launcher, which is located at this link. You can download the file directly from the smartphone, which you plan to “upgrade” to Android P.
For this purpose, we activated the function “Unknown sources”.
After the installation is completed, in the window that opens, select Pixel Launcher to use by default, by clicking “Always use”.
Because Pixel Launcher is not the default system application, you will need to grant it a number of privileges.
To do this, go to “Settings” – “Applications” – Pixel Launcher – “Permissions” and open the bootloader access to calls, built-in storage, and geolocation services to determine your location.
